STREAMLINING UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS: The Case For Refundable Fees and Simplified Forms
Like many others, I have experienced the frustration of applying for jobs repeatedly. In Pakistan, it's common for institutions to require documents from matriculation onward, all with attestation. My question is, why do they need a complete set of documents at the time of submitting the form? It would be more efficient to have a concise form submission process. Institutions could collect the necessary documents only after candidates clear the test. Given that we live in a computerised era, it's time for institutions to update their policies and improve their systems.
Secondly, In Pakistan several challenges impact students' ability to apply for higher education. The literacy rate is relatively low, and the cost of living is high, which makes it difficult for many people to manage their expenses . When students wish to apply to various Universities , they often face a series of difficulties due to the close timing of application deadlines across institutions.
Many universities announce their application deadlines around the same period, which creates a logistical and financial challenge for students. Each application requires fees and these can add up quickly if the student applies to multiple Universities. Given the financial constraints many students face, paying these fees can be a significant burden.
Moreover if a student is accepted into more than one universities, the situation becomes even more complex. The admission fees are generally non refundable, which means that if a student decides to enrol in their preferred University after being accepted elsewhere, they will not get their admission fees back. This non refundable policy can discourage students from applying to multiple institutions or from pursuing higher education altogether .
To address these issues , I suggest that universities implement a refundable admission fees policy. under this policy, if a student is accepted into multiple universities but ultimately chooses to enrol in one of them, the admission fees paid to the other institutions should be refunded .This approach would reduce the financial burden on students and encourage them to apply to more Universities ,thus improving their chances of securing admission in their desired programs.
A common problem really blieve me at the time of admission of my daughter 5 year back I spent more than one LAC and other expenses beside were separate. So how can one middle class parent afford and where rich people can get admission with bribe or nepotism
ReplyDeleteMany students face unexpected financial difficulties issues. A flexible refund policy can alleviate their burdens and support their educational goals.
ReplyDeleteGiven the unpredictable nature of life events like economic downturns, a responsive refund policy allows institutions to adapt and show compassion towards students’ needs. This was an insightful read.
